A little addition to my stash.

These are just a little snack that has been added to my stash over the past few weeks the lovely Organic merino was from the secret Santa swap on Ravelry thanks Flapjack.

Lily's Stripes

Lily's Solid

Knitpicks Shine Worsted

Knitpicks Wool of the Andes
Rowan Polar
Hip Knits Organic Merino

FO's and WIP

These are a few small items I have done over the holidays to keep my mind occupied. nothing big. the first one is a dishcloth pattern that I use as a doily it was a last minute something But it was so so quick that I promise myself that I will make it over with the correct yarn in the new year.

The second one is another of the Knitted Newborn Hat Pattern that I have decided to knit and donate to charity.

And last but not least my Palindrome Scarf my first cable project the pattern called for 3 cables but because of the bulky yarn I am using I had to drop one of the cables, but like it it is so squishy. I will be knitting the hat as well I am getting and early start on my 2008 Christmas knitting. I know it's quite far ahead but If God spares life I will be thanking myself for the early start.

Hope to have much much more WIP's and FO's in the new year coming.
What's on your needle?

Happy New Year !!!

2007 what can I really say about this past year, it started out with excitement and promise of great things to come. I was going to move to a totally different country, learn everything there was to know about the craft of knitting which has taken over my life (not that I mind ), and do so many fantastic things. But somewhere along the way things just didn't work out as plan and yes it was planned, I must admit that it has taken a toll on me and my life but I also think it has made that aspect of my life a lot stronger. But although this year has not been totally great it has have it's moments, I have met some amazing people, done some awesome things at least I think there are awesome and tried many new things and anyone who knows me knows I don't like trying new things some of my friends and family are still surprise that I have taught myself to knit. So amidst the bad some good have fought it's way through. I have always heard what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger so that means I should be as strong as an Ox, and I do believe that I am a better and stronger person because of everything that has happened. but I pray that while leaving this year of 2007 and going into 2008 that I can leave behind all my sorrow and step into the new year refreshed, renewed and ready to do amazing things in Jesus name.

I don't usually make list or resolutions but I am going to make a list of all the things I would like to accomplish in the New Year (especially in my knitting, there is so many things I want to do).

So here's my list not quite sure how long or short it will be so here goes:

1>Resolve all issues with people who I have hurt or who have hurt me

2> Stop worrying so much about what others think ok me and believe in myself

3> Stop procrastinating

4> Be more assertive

5>Live a more healthy lifestyle

6> Become Debt free

7>Give more freely of myself

8>Become more proficient in my knitting (take a few classes)

9>Learn to knit lace, knit my 1st garment and create my first original design

10>Increase my finances (for stash enhancement purposes)

I pray that you guys have a blessed and healthy and wealthy 2008.

Goodnight all.

When life happens and happens badly!

Holiday Greetings to all.

I have not posted here for quite sometime now, so I just decided to come drop a few lines here just to let you know I am still alive. Life has been hectic and chaotic over the last five weeks it seems like I just woke up one morning and my whole world was thrown upside down. Everything in my life has just gone from being ok to being sooooooo lousy it really sucks. So to all of you who read this blog and I am not quite sure if anyone does, but if you do and you believe in the power of pray please pray for me and my family as we really need it right now.

I have not take not my pointy sticks in weeks and I tried this week and ended up frogging my mind is in complete turmoil, but I am really believing that God has some BIG plan for me that I must now endure this hardship and chaos.

Everyone is telling me have faith be patient, and God knows I am trying really hard now to have doubt in my beliefs but it's hard very hard. But really I have to say unless you have walked a mile in my shoes don't tell me that my problems are small or I have no faith because all of us are different and what is easy for you may be very difficult for me.

But inspite of everything I have been enduring lately I still thank God for my friends and family who have been supporting me emotionally.

I probably could go on all night as I have so much to say and with no one to interrupt me here I could type all night but unfortunately sleep calls, so if anyone out there in blog land reads this blog and want to offer a word of encouragement or support please feel free to leave your comments.

Goodnight everyone!

White Autumn

I bolted out of bed about 2 minutes ago when my hubby said to me Boo it's snowing I said why don't you stop pulling my leg it's not snowing it's not winter yet. So he decided to pull the drapes back and holy cow it was snowing. Snow I couldn't believe it guess you can tell by this reaction that I have never seen it before and you would be right. we don't get snow in the tropics.
If any of you reading this post have children compare my fist reaction to you taking your children to a candy or toy store for the first time- yeah that bad. Be right back going outside to see it first hand.

10 minutes pasted!!!

OK that was awesome cold but awesome!!!!!
Well I am going to curl up here in my window and just enjoy this beautiful thing.

Beautiful!!!!

Something from nothing!

After my behaviour in my previous post I didn't expect to be back here so soon but god id good. I was searching through my closet and found some very small pieces of yarn that had been left over from something else. The colors not so sure how their would look together and maybe no one except me would put together but desperate times calls for desperate measures. So I took up my needles and cast on. I casted on 100 sts and just started knitting in the round I did not have clue was I was knitting but I just knew I was knitting and it felt great!.
Being as it was small amounts of each I decided to switch yarns and try to create some sort of harmony with the colors. At this stage I am knitting away and still don't know what it would be if anything at all.
Sometime during the day I had to go to the market. It was really cold so decided to layer up really good but somehow in the process of ensuring my body was not cold I forgot about my head my head was freezing but what could I do I was already in the market so i told myself as soon as i got home i would try to find a nice hat pattern for myself that maybe I could use my scrap yarn for. So I came home and went straight onto the computer and started looking for hat patterns I didn't see anything that would work so I decided to Google head warmers and up came this "snood" was not sure what it was until I saw a picture I was over the moon it was just a tube that acted like a hood and scarf in one and all I had to do was continue adding length to my piece and voila I would have a cover for my head.

So I proved to myself that even when i am down God is always up yo something and thought the colors may not look so hot together as least my head will be warm!

Here's some pics at different intervals in the journey of the SNOOD.

It will be finish by tonite so I'll get to post a FO pic and me wearing it.

AAAHHHh! Yarn Drought

It's a cloudy 9 degrees out today, and I feel just the same. I have not picked up my shiny sticks for days now and it's really messing me up bad. I am in a knitting rut I have no yarn in my stash- zilch, zero, nothing, nada this is the most frustrating experience ever. And right now I am in no position to purchase any new yarn until the end of the month (((((((screaming))))))). So what is a poor girl to do ????

So for these past week or so I have been at home bored to tears with nothing to do except go unto Ravelry and KH and ogle other peoples yarns and FO's ((that's bad )) I'm like a junkie looking for a fix, I think pretty soon I'll go into shock or something. I need to knit ((((((ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh)))))))),

????Could this be my mid life crisis???? Or is this the end for me??

Ok seriously I can't way until this period of withdrawal is over this is so hard so so hard.

HHHHHHHeeeeeeeeeeeeeLLLLLLLLLLLLpppppppppppppppppppp can anyone hear my plea for help?????????

PIF Angels

Well I have one PIF angel so far I only need 2 more. Thanks Lisa for being my angel. Who will be the next ???? Is it you ?????

Seven Random Facts-Tag I am it!!

I've been tagged by Knittykitty!

Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog

2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself

3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

And I'm off !!

1. I had a serious crush I mean madly in love, wanted to spend the rest of my life kind of crush on my cousin Ryan as a child. I though he was the cutest, dreamiest boy ever to walk the face of the earth and what made it even worse was the fact that he didn't live in the Caribbean with us so he was like the posh cousin the one who lived in America, and back then that was big deal to live In America. No worries I am over that now and in my defense I was only 8 yrs old.

2. I ate stones when I was a child, little white rocks that tasted like chalk. thank God I am no longer a child.

3. Every night my older cousins and I would run down the gap butt naked and lie in the middle of the road until we saw lights from a vehicle coming and then dash off running. There were no street lights so it would be pitch black.

4. As a child growing up I would eat everything with a knife and fork, no matter what it was i would use a knife and a fork. Cereal, jello, cookies are some of the many food I have great talent in eating with a knife and fork!!!!

5. I am the biggest Michael Jackson Fan ever!!!I don't think there is another person alive who loves MJ more than I do, not even Knittykitty.
Growing up all my t shirts had his picture on them the only music I listened to was his, whenever any of songs came onto the television or radio everyone had to be quit or I would get on real bad, I am serious no messy with you here. Even now I have all his videos and music, the man is a musical genius. Wish I could say the same thing about his choice for a nose but never the less he still is my Favorite Artist.

6. I spent the better part of my teenage years hiding under my sheet in bed reading Mills & Boons and Loveswept romance novels. if my mum had caught me it would have been some serious trouble for me. I really love how in every book the two characters lived happily ever after.

7. You know how some people collect stamps or coins and things of that nature-well I have a very extensive collection of what I deem to be weird knickers seriously when I say weird I mean weird.(their are just for my collection)

I really hope none of the things I have said here make you think I am a bit nutty, I just like to think of my childhood and teenage years as very interesting and never boring.

Here are the 7 persons I have tagged.
Tiffany, Alexandra, Jeanie, Becka, Lu, Christina , Robyn

Thanks for this crazy idea Lisa.

Anniversary !!

Tonight or should I say last night after all it is after 2 in the morning, was my 2nd wedding anniversary, and it was wonderful!!!!!!!. I wish could tell you all about it, but I will not for the simple fact that this blog is rated G, go into much details except to say it was magical, however I will say that the menu was superb the wine was great and dessert was even more awesome. With that said I have to admit that right now I am a little pissed (tipsy) from drinking so many wine coolers.
But all and all it was a great night extremely romantic and intoxicating! (don't mean alcohol).

Well I am positively knackered so this will be very short, off to bed before my DH misses me from under the covers.

Nite!!!!

PAY IT FOWARD!!

I'm SO EXCITED to be a involved in the Pay It Forward Exchange! I found out about it from http://whimsicalknitting.blogspot.com/
here is the info: "It’s the Pay It Forward Exchange. It’s based of the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on.
So here’s how it works. You promise to make and send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment to this post on your blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. You don't know what that gift will be yet, and it won’t be sent this month, probably not next month, but it will be sent (within 6 months) and that’s a promise! What they have to do in return, then, is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog."
I signed up under Curlyqnj athttp://www.ravelry.com/discuss/knitting-help/topics/22913If you would like to sign up under me you can send me a message or leave a message here!

Who will be my fist Angel? Is it you?

A bit of everything!!

After spending 7 1/2 hours on a plane, 5 hours in the airport, 3 hours transferring trains, and 30 on the bus I am finally back in the UK. I spent the last 4 weeks; 4 long long weeks home in Barbados, and by golly miss molly was it hot, most days were 32 degrees Celsius, you could have cooked and egg on the pavement. So no more complaining about the weather in the UK especially now it's Autumn and freezing I am not sure how and if I'll make it through the winter but I know now I prefer the cold weather than the hot hot weather in Barbados. I hope I can say that after Winter (laugh). But autumn I love how the color of the leaves change and trees that where completely covered in leaves are now almost naked and this morning I got up and around 6 am and pulled back the curtains and low and behold no sun it was pitch black outside it was a real shock!!!! I mean I know people say the days get shorter as the seasons changes but I was not looking for this; to go from having what it seems to never ending sunlight in summer to only sun from about 8am to about 4 pm is a real shock to the system especially to someone who has never experience this before, but I am looking forward to see what these next two seasons bring.

However I did manage to finish my mittens and work on a hat of my own design and a very fuzzy so fuzzy to the point you can't see the drop stitches I used to make it scarf but it's OK I know their are there. I was really hoping to knit at least one garment for the upcoming cold weather but I just can't seem to find a sweater pattern i think i can finish or one that will accentuate my voluptuous proportions. Any suggestions anyone??? Also I am going to be casting on a throw later today for my legs (cold) cause i don't have any socks long enough to warm them up I seriously need to get my cols weather wardrobe together apart from hat and scarves. But when i go shopping and i see the mass produced made knit wear ables i want to barf there is just no comparison between massed produced knit wear and hand made knit wear! and i make no apologies for saying that. I am sure all Knitters even the absolute novice like me think so as well.
But if i can't have my own knitted wear for this season I'll definitely have it for next season.

Many thanks to my new friend Lisa (who lived in the same country as me for all our lives but it took KH forum for us to meet), for my very first knitting book "Knitting Rules" by The Yarn Harlot Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee. I have read this book 3 things since it was gifted to me- my comments on it "very funny and inspirational a must have for every knitter". And by reading this book I am knitting my 1st sock with an acrylic dk yarn ( just in case i had to frogg) I though knitting sock was going to be sooooo difficult, but with a little (i said little but i mean a lot) of pushing from Lisa i casted on my sock. so far i have ribbed and done the st st and am about to do the heel. So as soon as this sock is completed I'll be going shopping for sock yarn, to make a wearable pair for my DH.

Here is a pic of my finished mittens and the hat and extra fuzzy but very soft and warm Scarf and a pic of the sock when i 1st started.

Ok I can't seem to upload any pics now so pics will come later Sorry.

My finished hat and first mitten OTN!!!!!!

I have finished my hat. One needle freed up to do more knitting.

New OTN Mittens Yeah for me!!
Believe it or not I have started my very first pair of mittens YEAHHH!!!! I don't have dpns I had a set, but i only realize after moving I left one back in Barbados and I am finding it so hard to find dpns here especially any sizes above 3.75mm. so i had to use this 2 needle one, which I pray comes out OK because my hands are freezing. I didn't think I could do it but when I got started it knits up quite quickly and quite nicely I would say. Working on the thumb in this pic.

Well I have taken up a new craft but can't say more just in case my swappee is watching my blog, you never know what he/she may be up to. I'll give you a hint I have to use my "hands" (laugh).

Addi needles are the best!!!!!!!!!

I awoke this morning excited I was supposed to be receiving my shipment of Addi needles today my very first set of circular needles.
I ran down the stairs hoping beyond hope to see my package on the floor under the mail shoot, and there it was..... my package, I don't think I had been this excited about spending that much money in my life,,, is was a rush. I took my package up and tore into it like a madman. I couldn't wait to get started.

I have been hearing about them for so long and everyone was singing they praises, and I to have to say they are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am looking forward to begin knitting a garment with them so far it's only been swatches trying to get the feel for them. I am so very excited can wait.

Also as promise my finished
scarf and I have to say
it's very very warm.

And a gift I received from a friend and I intend to try to make the best of it all I'll even make him a gift from this stash. The funny thing is every time he comes over he always ask have you made anything from it yet? and I always reply i am saving them for something special. but that is not true it's just that I thought had left the world of synthetic fibers behind me and was moving on to better quality yarn but then I told my self,,,,,, self! when you had nothing else but A CRY LLICS that is what I knitted so why are you becoming so posh? Yes I gave myself a real wake up call. so this is my 1st WIP with my gift.
The inside out chemo hat from headhuggers.
But now it off to bed didn't realise how long I have been at the PC. Goodnight !!!!!!!!

Believe it or not today was my first time to go into a bonafided yarn store............. you may find it hard to believe but where I come from we don't have yarn stores and the only yarn that is sold is >>>>>>>>>>>>A Cry Llics <<<<<<<<<<<.
You should have seen my face it lit up like a Christmas tree. I couldn't believe there was so many yarns out there and to actually get to feel and touch them it was a blast.

But that is where the trouble began I didn't want to leave I spent more than 2 hours in there and they were having and end of summer sale Ahhhhhhhhhh it was to much, but I had control this time. So I am proud of myself. but I am not so sure whats going to happen the next time I go back..

Ok ok so maybe I can't find 100 things right now but I will over time so stay tuned.

My first monster pieces...

I believe that even Leonardo Da Vinci , Picasso,or Vincent Van Gogh had to have started they careers with a few paintings that only them could call master piece, so it's with that in mind I show you what I call my first master pieces:-here goes

One of my first objects was this bag it didn't start out as a bag it just started as me practising my garter stitch but I got bored and BO and decided to sew it up and add handles, at this point I didn't know anything about blocking or finishing.

Then came these objects my first hat and first attempt at ribbing.

Then followed by my first st st object I rather like this bag and believe it or not I couldn't even handle yarn efficiently as yet and I went and did this in raffia I would say I was quite brave.

I bought this denim jacket and decided I wanted to jazz it up so I bought some lion brand fun fur and decided to add this collar and cuffs. This was a bit difficult at first as I had never tried this fuzzy stuff before but in the end I think I ended up with a little doozy of a jacket.

This bag was my experiment with larger needles I think US size 15 I think .

Trying to step outside my comfort level with this seed stitch border and booties, these I gave as a gift to a friend and although they were not quite perfect she loved them.

This beanie style hat I did for my partner I was rather proud of this one I didn't even frog once yeah !!!!

This next project is a doozy my first time knitting in the round on dpns and to think I had been seaming all my other stuff someone should have told me about knitting in the round every since I loooove it. This hat was done in the colors of my National Flag.I may never wear it but I feel really good about myself for my first attempt. Bravo to me....

Those are all I have taken photos of so far but I will post the others soon.

Currently I have OTN a few scarves and The Inside Out Knit Chemo Cap I am really trying to finish before summer has ended because I really would like to start on my my very first cardigan or pullover and gloves.

Wish me luck.
